FAQ

Why should I rent an apartment instead of a hotel?
Apartment renting is great for travelers who want more space than a hotel room and are independent travelers who like to explore new neighborhoods and live more like a Parisian than a typical tourist in a hotel. Apartment renting is also great for families because large hotels rooms are nearly impossible to find in Paris, and are much, much more expensive than staying in an apartment. You can also benefit from having a kitchen and being able to cook at home. We suggest you read this informative article on the subject from the site Slow Travel: http://www.slowtrav.com/vr/what.htm

How do I get the keys?  Will someone meet me when I arrive in Paris?
All guests will be met by a Paris Rentals by Ruben agent upon arrival. Guests will be asked to provide their arrival details preferably at least 30 days prior to their arrival in Paris. We will be waiting for guests at the apartment, based on the arrival details provided. Once you arrive, we will give you the keys and show you around the apartment and answer any questions you may have about the neighborhood. Each apartment also has a “Welcome Book” with information about everything inside the apartment and the surrounding neighborhood.

What if I have an emergency?
Paris Rentals by Ruben will be on-call for emergencies during your stay. We will also be available for questions upon arrival, and if you have questions during your stay you will have a phone number to call.

How do I pay for an apartment?
We accept payment via PayPal and credit cards. If you are not familiar with PayPal, you can read about it here: www.paypal.com PayPal allows you to pay securely by credit card or bank debit without sharing your personal financial information with anyone besides PayPal.

What is included in the Rental Fee?

All apartments are fully furnished, and all bed linens, towels and kitchen supplies are included in the cost of your rental. All utilities are also included in the cost of your rental, with the exception of long-distance phone calls or other out-of-the ordinary phone charges. For monthly rentals, cleaning is required after two weeks at the charge of the renter (80 Euros flat fee, including laundering of bed linens & towels). All of our monthly rates shown on our website are based on 28 nights (4 weeks).A monthly electricity fee may apply to rentals longer than 1 month. Please inquire for details.

How do I Reserve the Apartment?

To reserve the apartment, we will request that you click on the « BOOKING » Button then click on the apartment you want to reserve and then follow the steps until the payment is completed.  You will accept the terms of the rental agreement at the time of payment. We require half of the rental fee in advance, to Paris Rentals by Ruben, « Your keys to the World »S.L.. Then, no less than 30 days before your check-in date, you will pay the remaining amount, plus the full damage deposit. If you are booking within 30 days of arrival, Paris Rentals by Ruben will request the full amount upon booking including damage deposit. When a reservation is for less than one week (7 nights), we ask for the full rental fee upon reservation. The damage deposit is due 30 days before arrival and payable in the same manner, by PayPal.

How do I Pay?

If you would like to pay directly through our site, click on the « BOOKING » button and follow the steps to make your Paypal Payment.

If you prefer not to use Paypal, we can email you a link to pay directly by crédit card. Please email us at info@parisrentalsbyruben.com and we will respond with all the additional steps to rent the apartment.

What is PayPal?

PayPal is a way for you to pay an apartment owner by credit card or direct debit from your bank, without sharing any of your personal financial information with the owner. PayPal is secure and free for you. PayPal also makes the currency conversion, which helps because your home currency and the owner’s currency (usually EUROS) are often not the same! Please visit www.paypal.com to read how PayPal works. We think PayPal offers a good service for both renters and owners, and normally makes payment easy for both parties.

Do I Have to Pay a Damage Deposit or Security Deposit?

Fully-refundable damage deposits are required on all apartment rentals, in the amounts of 300-500 Euros, depending on the apartment. Damage deposits are paid with your rental fee. Payment of the damage deposit is required in the second, final payment.

Renters are normally very respectful of the apartments and we refund nearly all damage deposits in full. After you check out of the apartment, we will clean the apartment and verify there are no damages, lost keys, missing items or apartments left in excessively dirty condition. Should any of these situations apply, the resulting charges would be deducted from your damage deposit. Smoking inside the apartment will result in a forfeit your entire damage deposit.

While the rental agreement gives us 30 days to refund your deposit, you can generally expect to receive within a week after your departure. The refund of your damage deposit will be processed and refunded to you after you check out, normally in the same way you paid the deposit initially.

Do I Need to Sign a Rental Agreement or Contract?

Yes, you will be ask to accept the terms of our rental agreement when you pay for the rental.

What If I Need An Early Check-In?

If the apartment is vacant the night before you arrive, then the apartment will be available for check-in upon arrival. However, it is unavoidable that we will sometimes have guests leaving the same day you arrive. If you have an early flight and want to guarantee you will have full access to the apartment upon check-in, then you must pay to reserve the night before your arrival. Otherwise, the process is as follows: You may arrive at the apartment anytime after 9 a.m., and we will show you how everything in the apartment works, give you the keys, answer any questions you may have, and give you an estimate of when the clean will be completed (normally a couple of hours). You can leave your luggage in the apartment and then go out exploring or for lunch (guests must leave the apartment while it is being cleaned) and when you return the apartment will be clean and ready to go. If you are arriving in the mid-afternoon or later then the apartment will be clean when you arrive in nearly all cases.

Late Check-Ins?
If you arrive at the apartment anytime before 9am or after 9 p.m., an additional check-in fee of 30 Euros will apply. If you arrive at the apartment at midnight or later, a late check-in fee of 40 Euros will apply. Please be prepared to pay this amount in cash upon arrival to your greeter.

When Is Check-Out Time?

Standard check-out time is 10 a.m., meaning all guests and luggage must be out of the apartment by this time to accommodate the cleaning schedule. Should you desire a late check-out, it must be arranged in advance and a fee will apply. Should you need a place to store your luggage on your check-out day, you can do so at Gare du Nord (west entrance off rue Dunkerque, downstairs) and when you return to get your luggage, it makes it easy to then take a taxi or the RER B directly from there to the airport. We are sorry but we CANNOT store your luggage.

Can I Cancel My Reservation? Will I Receive a Refund?

Unfortunately, apartment rentals are not like hotels in terms of reservations, and likewise we cannot offer hotel refund policies. We will offer you a full refund if you cancel 60 days or more in advance of your booking, minus a 200 Euro or 10% processing fee. If you cancel within 60 days, we cannot guarantee you a refund unless we find another renter to for the dates we had reserved on your behalf. If we do find a renter, your money will be refunded by the owner minus a 200 Euro processing fee. In the unlikely event that the apartment becomes unrentable in our opinion for a reason that is beyond our control (lack of utilities, unforeseen construction, etc.), we will alert you to the problem as soon as possible and do our best to move you to another apartment based on availability or provide a refund. Should you choose to leave the apartment prior to the check-out date on this agreement, you will not be entitled to any refund.Payment in full of the rental will be due if you cancel within 60 days of arrival.
